Our planetary gearbox is assembled with an outer casing, inner shell, planetary gears, planetary shafts, input and output shafts, along with gearbox oil and related seals. Featuring a straightforward architecture, superior efficiency, and lasting durability, this gearbox is a favored choice for various mechanical applications ranging from automotive and agricultural machinery to robotic systems.
The working principle of the planetary gearbox is simple. Motor-generated high-speed torque is transformed into low-speed torque via the motion of the planetary gears. These gears revolve around a fixed planetary shaft anchored to the inner shell. When driven by the input shaft, these planetary gears rotate rapidly because of their small diameters, achieving speed reduction in the output shaft in relation to the input shaft.
At Zhongda, we provide two types of planetary gearboxes: one with straight gears and the other with helical gears. Here’s what sets them apart:
- Gear Meshing Quality:
Straight gears engage and disengage directly, leading to greater impact forces during transitions. While helical gears engage progressively, moving from short to long contact and back, resulting in reduced impact forces and smoother meshing.
- Overlap Coefficient:
Helical gears boast a greater overlap coefficient than straight gears, offering them superior load-bearing capacity.
- Transmission:
The engagement line of helical gears is angled, while that of straight gears runs parallel to the gear axis, making helical gears less prone to gear errors.
- Noise & Vibration:
Straight gear planetary gearboxes can produce vibrations. In contrast, gearboxes with helical gears ensure reduced noise and vibration.
- Appearance
Helical gears exhibit a staggered arrangement on cylindrical gears, while straight gears align without any offset.
- Planetary Frame Support:
Gearboxes with helical gears require dual support structures. Their bearings and gear frames are integrated, necessitating precise alignment.
Straight gears can utilize both dual and single support structures. However, using only one support point might cause the gear to deviate, increasing noise and friction over time.
- Precision:
Helical gear planetary gearboxes offer superior precision when compared to their straight gear counterparts. While helical gears can produce axial forces not seen in straight gears, the advantages they offer in terms of vibration reduction and strength far outweigh the downsides brought by axial thrust and slightly higher manufacturing costs.
